7andUp Kids Club

7andUp Kids Club is a “watch and plan” program for growing smiles. Your child gets an early orthodontic check‑up, and if it’s not time for braces yet, we track growth and guide next steps. The goal is smart timing – so treatment starts when it can help most.

Why age 7 matters

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children see an orthodontist around age 7, and Oakland Orthodontics shares this guidance. At that visit, we look at jaw growth, tooth spacing, and habits like thumb sucking. Warning signs can include early or late loss of baby teeth, trouble chewing or biting, mouth breathing, thumb or finger sucking, and crowded or blocked teeth.

Purpose of the 7andUP Kids Club

Many kids are not ready for treatment at the first visit – and that’s normal. 7andUp Kids Club keeps your child on a clear path while permanent teeth erupt and the jaws grow. We monitor changes, answer questions, and help you plan the next milestone. Observation in a growth phase may involve regular recall visits ( about every six months), but timing is individualized.

Who can join

After your child’s initial exam, we will let you know if active treatment is recommended now or if monitoring through our 7andUp Kids Club is the best next step. Kids ages 7 and up who are not quite ready for braces but benefit from regular growth checks are eligible to join!

If your child is 6 or younger, they can start in our Birthday Club, where we celebrate their big day each year with a birthday card from our team. When they turn 7, they “graduate” into the 7andUp Kids Club and begin regular observations.

Benefits and example perks

The biggest benefit of 7andUp Kids Club is clarity: you always know what we are monitoring, why it matters, and when treatment might be needed. To make visits fun and motivating, we also include kid-friendly perks such as:

  • VIP patient experience at every visit, with a welcoming, encouraging atmosphere.
  • Patient rewards program, where kids can earn tickets or points for great brushing, on-time appointments, and positive behavior. Then they can redeem them for prizes or contests.
  • Exclusive patient events for 7andUp Kids Club members hosted by Oakland Orthodontics throughout the year.
  • Positive habit recognition to celebrate excellent oral hygiene and punctual attendance.
  • Future treatment credits, so parents can receive a $50 credit for eligible observation appointments that may be applied towards their child’s future orthodontic treatment.

Specific rewards, contests, and credit amounts may change over time, so please ask our team what is currently available when your child enrolls.

How to enroll

Request a complimentary consultation (online or by phone/text), then complete the necessary health history and consent forms for your child. At the visit, we recommend treatment now or a monitoring plan. If monitoring is best, we will explain how often to return, how the rewards and credits work, and how to keep your child’s smile on track between visits.

Privacy and parent/guardian notes

A parent/guardian completes health history and consents for minors. Oakland Orthodontics’ HIPAA Notice explains use of protected health information for treatment, payment, and healthcare operations and notes the office may contact you to remind you of appointments; it also includes signature language for a “patient, guardian or caretaker.” Under HIPAA, parents are usually a minor’s personal representative (with limited exceptions).

Schedule your child’s consultation and ask about 7andUp Kids Club monitoring.

FAQs:

  1. Does 7andUp Kids Club mean my child needs braces now?
Not necessarily. The age 7 visit is often about evaluating growth and planning ahead; many kids benefit from monitoring first.
  2. How often are 7andUp Kids Club check-ins?
It depends on growth and what we’re watching but visits are scheduled generally six months apart.
  3. What about privacy for kids?
A parent or legal guardian completes all required forms and consents for minors, and Oakland Orthodontics follows HIPAA guidelines for protecting patient information. We may use contact information to send appointment reminders, birthday cards, or club‑related updates.
